STAINLESS STEEL NUTS

Precision Technology Supplies, as one of the largest distributors of nuts and bolts and micro fasteners in Europe, have huge stocks of Stainless Steel Nuts in both Metric to DIN and ISO specifications and American Inch UNC/UNF threads to ASME specifications. All are available to buy now online.

Nuts are almost always used opposite a mating bolt to fasten a stack of parts together. As well as the most popular Hexagon Nuts we cover everything from Wing Nuts for finger adjustment, Tee Nuts for wood applications, security barrel nuts, self positioning cage nuts and many types of prevailing torque locking nuts.

The most popular locking nuts are nylon insert nuts. The nylon insert locks the nut in two ways. First, it forces the bottom face of the screw threads against the top face of the nut threads, increasing the friction between the two. Second, the nylon applies a compressive force against the screw itself. They can be used many times but not in critical applications such as aerospace.

Square nuts are commonly used in furniture applications, have a greater surface in contact with the part being fastened and therefore provide greater resistance to loosening (and also greater resistance to tightening). They are much less likely to become rounded-off after repeated loosening / tightening cycles.

Serrated Flange Nuts distribute the pressure of the nut over the part being secured, reducing the chance of damage to the part and making it less likely to loosen. The serrations provide a locking action because they are angled to keep the nut from rotating in the direction that would loosen the nut.

PTS-UK offer a popular and cheaper alternative to the Aerotight nut, which is an All Metal Self Locking Nut (sometimes called a Stover Nut). It features three indentations on the side or top of the nut which slightly distorts the thread. This creates a locking action when the distorted threads engage the threads of the mating part.
